Frequently Asked Questions

1) What happens after 3rd grade? Will my child have to switch schools?

* Rest assured, your child will not need to transfer schools. At After the One Christian Academy, our commitment is to provide continuity in education. Our third graders will seamlessly transition to become the pioneering fourth grade class. With faith as our guide, we aim to incorporate one to two new grade levels annually, fostering growth and development within our school community.

2) What kind of curriculum will be used? Will it just be "Bible Stories"?

* We are proud to announce that we will be implementing the Abeka Curriculum mixed with McGraw Hill, offering a robust academic foundation steeped in faith and centered around Christ. This curriculum ensures rigorous academic studies while nurturing spiritual growth, aligning with our commitment to holistic education at After the One Christian Academy.

3) What are your days and hours of operations?

* The inaugural day of the school year is scheduled for July 29, 2024. Classes will run from Monday through Thursday and the day will commence promptly at 7:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:00 p.m. For the convenience of parents, drop-off will commence at 7:00 a.m. Late pickup will start at 3:30 p.m. with a fee of $1 per minute thereafter.

4) What else does the Tuition cover? Are there any discounts?

* In addition to providing an exceptional education, tuition will include the provisions of two polo shirts, coverage of field trip expenses, and daily snacks for students. We strive to ensure a comprehensive and enriching experience for every child at After the One Christian Academy. Once ESA funds have been established a sibling discount may be applied.

5) What kind of discipline will the children experience?

* At After the One Christian Academy, we firmly believe that discipline begins at home and is most effectively delivered by parents or guardians. As part of our approach, we are introducing a redirection policy. Recognizing that many children may require guidance and direction, our staff will implement redirection methods during instances of misbehavior, aiming to guide the students back onto the right path. We prioritize a supportive and nurturing environment to foster growth and character development in our students.

6) Do you accept students on an IEP?

Currently, we are accepting up to 3 students per grade with minor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). It is essential to ensure that our current staff is adequately equipped to address various areas of disabilities, both academically and spiritually, to effectively meet the needs of all of our students. Maintaining this balance allows us to provide a comprehensive educational and spiritual experience for each student in our care. Each student will receive their required goals for their IEP's.

7) Is there a dress code?

Yes. Dress codes help engender a cohesive presentation of the students in our school. When our students are in dress code, it communicates, aesthetically, that they are part of the same team, working toward the same goals. As well, the dress code should save parents money. The dress code de-emphasizes the social impact of dress and helps the student focus on character and the pursuit of academics.

8) What kind of testing/assessments will be given from the school?

All students entering Kindergarten will be given an Entry Assessment. Our school will conduct "Reviews" rather than testing to assure the students are retaining the information being taught. After the One Christian Academy will participate in State Standardized testing for students in 3rd grade and up.
